Elephant Head Taxidermy is a full service operation, including all phases of taxidermy.

This means two things for you - LOWER COSTS due to the fact that there are fewer middlemen and, most of all, GREATER QUALITY CONTROL over your valued pieces. We use only the best materials and tanneries.

Ed Borner is the president of Elephant Head and is a master taxidermist with 45 years experience.

In addition to the study of North America game, Ed is a Professional Hunter in South Africa and has hunted South Africa for the past 24 years. He has done a number of years of field study in South Africa which provided the opportunity to make death casts of many animals and a number of the company's African molds. Ed has worked behind the scenes with top taxidermists at the Museum of Natural History in Pretoria, South Africa, as well as the majority of work for several zoological parks/ museums on the East Coast.

Ed has studied sculpting - the dedication to anatomic accuracy is evident in his work.

Knowledge of the animal habits and habitat enables us to create natural poses and for the client desiring custom work, it allows us to bring a whole scene that you hold in your mind into reality. We get work in from all over the world, with the bulk of our work coming from, Africa, Alaska, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, as well as the North American game and exotics. Our client base is quite varied ranging from the young child catching his first fish, to the local deer/antelope hunter, to the safari hunter. A large number of our clients are Safari Club International members.

We take pride in producing a quality product. We are recipients of state, local and national awards for our work. Most recently we won the Rocky Mountain Mammal Competition, and received the Peoples Choice Awards at the Safari Club International Convention in 1995. Recently we were awarded a ribbon at the Colorado Taxidermy competition for a life-size bongo mount.

We enjoy the artistic challenge of doing custom life-size pieces but also can supply you with a standard or modified standard mount. In most cases, a form can be modified to create the pose you desire thus avoiding total custom fees. If you see any pictures of poses you might like, hold onto them.

Elephant Head Taxidermy, Inc. is a designated Port of Entry, which means your hides / horns can be shipped directly to our studio before being opened. All necessary inspections by the Dept. of Agriculture and U.S. Fish and Wildlife are done here on the premises. Customs clearance is handled by our agent in Denver for International shipments. We do have quarantine facilities if they are designated as such. By having these inspections done here reduces the risk of loss along the way, as well as speeds up the time in which we receive your hides and can get started with the processing. We are insured for basic replacement of your trophies in the event of fire or theft, and our facility is protected with a central fire and burglar alarm system.

On Safari orders we work with each client individually. Shipping and crating fees are extra, but this is an area where we can discuss the options. Contact us for further information at Safari.

We look forward to hearing from you soon. We take pride in our many years of experience and the high quality of work which we produce. You deserve the best in the preservation of the memories of that hunt that you worked so hard for. You deserve Elephant Head Taxidermy.
